Formed as a partnership between Donald & Mark Barthorpe, D & M Barthorpe began the business of electrical contracting in Boston in 1967. At that time two significant market opportunities were just opening.
The first was brought about by the fact that the electrical systems within many of the houses in and around Boston were coming to the end of their useful life, being made from copper and insulated rubber. Rewiring incorporating PVC cable was taking off. Secondly the ever expanding range of new domestic electrical appliances for the home created a further opportunity in the installation of additional socket outlets. While these two work streams became ever more popular, commercial & farming installations were also an area to which D & M Barthorpe applied themselves, gaining a good reputation in the installation of electrical systems within crop drying buildings.
In a very short time the newly established company required its own base & office and this became the Oxford Street premises from which it still operates today. Growth in business has seen the company expand steadily over the intervening years and the company now employees a staff of 15.
The business became incorporated in 2010 but has retained its original name. Still very much a small family business D & M Barthorpe Limited continues to uphold the beliefs and aspirations of the original partnership.
